Al Jazira claim UAE President´s Cup

Al Jazira have lifted the UAE President s Cup for the second year in a row after a 3-1 victory over Bani Yas on Monday in Abu Dhabi.

The result sees the 2010-11 Pro-League champions claim their first piece of silverware for the campaign, after they crashed out of the Emirates Cup at the semi-final stage, while in the league they currently sit in second spot but eight points behind leaders Al Ain with four games to play.

Al Jazira went ahead after just seven minutes through Australian defender Lucas Neill, but Bani Yas levelled just minutes after the half-time break thanks to Nawaf Mubarak s superb strike from 25 yards.

Bani Yas appeared in control in the second half before Brazilian striker Ricardo Oliveira scored on 72 minutes with a free-kick.

West Brom to sign Amalfitano

that Marseille have accepted an offer from West Brom for midfielder Morgan Amalfitano.

The Baggies plan to take the player on a season-long loan with an option to buy and are prepared to pay his wages in full.

Amalfitano himself has yet to decide whether he wants to accept the proposal from England, although the fact he is not a first team regular at Stade Velodrome should aid West Brom s chances of landing the 28-year-old.

Morgan Amalfitano came through the youth ranks at Cannes, but it was at Sedan that he began his professional career.

He joined Lorient in 2008 and went on to make 110 league appearances for les Merlus, scoring 14 goals in the process, which in turn saw him snatched by Marseille.

Amalfitano never quite managed to prove his wor…

Wanted man Sukur denounces coup

Former Turkey international Hakan Sukur has denounced the failed coup against the government of Recep Tayyip Erdogan after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

The ex-Galatasaray striker is, according to state media, being sought on charges of membership of an armed terror group , relating to his support for cleric Fethullah Gulen, accused by the government of being the mastermind of last month s coup attempt.

United States-based Gulen has denied any connection to the coup, which saw two hundred and seventy people killed as an element of the armed forces attempted to overthrow president Erdogan, who has initiated a widespread crackdown on sections of civil society in response.

Turkey s all-time leading goalscorer, Sukur went into politics after his retirement in…

Rumour Has It: Chelsea plan January loan move for Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix

Chelsea are reportedly closing in on a loan deal for Atletico Madrid club-record signing Joao Felix in January.

Felix, 23, was signed in 2019 for €126million after winning the European Golden Boy award with Benfica, shattering Atletico s previous transfer record of Thomas Lemar by over €50m.

However, despite netting 33 goals for his new club, Felix has struggled to consistently earn a spot in their starting XI, with seven of his 12 LaLiga appearances this season coming as a substitute.

Having made such a substantial investment, Atletico are not willing to sell him at a massive loss just yet, and while they have made him available for transfer, a loan move to rehabilitate his value appears far more likely.

NFL Power Rankings: Reinvigorated Saints Passing Game Has NOLA Climbing

Week 1 of the NFL season is in the books and I’m trying my best not to overreact to some of the results, but too many incidents have me shaking up my NFL power rankings heading into Week 2. Even though top of the list didn’t see much movement, there are plenty of movers and shakers from 5th to 32nd.

In games on a neutral field, every higher-ranked team would be favored or, at least, a pick ’em on the in this format. For two teams ranked closely together, the difference in the spread would be a home-field advantage (if any), which varies slightly from team to team.

Aroldis Chapman's Stripper Friend Charged With Lying To Cops About That Bizarre Hotel Room Robbery

That weird story about a robbery in Aroldis Chapman's Pittsburgh hotel room three weeks ago only got weirder when the woman found tied up in the room couldn't get her story straight. Claudia Manrique is a 26-year-old stripper Chapman began dating in April who "would meet him in other cities where the Reds were playing," according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. She has since failed a polygraph test and was issued a summons on a misdemeanor charge of filing a false report to authorities. This is where I ought to remind you that Chapman thinks Manrique owes somebody anywhere from $9,000 to $30,000, that cops in Baltimore say she took $2,000 from some other guy, and that she's married to someone else.
